I have tried baking so many versions of chocolate chip cookies I’ve lost count. I love trying new recipes; adding an extra egg yolk to make them chewy, chilling the dough to make them puffy, baking immediately with melted butter to make them flat and crispy.. the list goes on! Everyone has their favorite type of cookie, my husband loves them flat and crispy but I like them underbaked and chewy!
Yesterday I tried a new recipe and they were SO good.. my favorite yet. They have all your basic ingredients in them but also milk and honey!! The flavor was amazing and you can adjust the baking method to make them to your liking- flat and crispy or thick and chewy! Make these today, you’ll love them!
Ingredients
1 and 2/3 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
10 tablespoons butter- melted, then cooled slightly
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons milk
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips + 1/4 cup chocolate chunks
Directions
-Mix together flour, baking soda & salt in a large bowl and set aside
-In another bowl, mix together melted butter, sugar, brown sugar, egg yolk, honey milk and vanilla
-Pour wet ingredients into the flour mixture and fold in chocolate chips/chunks
Here is where you’ll pick how you want your cookies to turn out!
If you want them thinner (or if you don’t want to wait to chill the dough!) you will preheat your oven to 375 degrees and bake cookies once oven is preheated.
If you want thicker cookies you’ll need to allow time for the dough to chill in the fridge (1 hour or up to 4 days). My photos show cookies where the dough was chilled for 1 day.
-When you’re ready to bake preheat oven to 375
-Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat
-Using your hands or a cookie scoop roll dough into 1 tablespoon balls (I always roll my cookies taller vs. an even ball, this helps keep them chewy in the center) and arrange on the cookie sheet
-Bake 10 minutes then carefully move to a wire rack to cool completely, they’ll firm up as they cool
This recipe makes about 20 cookies! Enjoy!
